Concentrations in Writing Arts
Concentrations are for Rowan University students majoring in Writing Arts. All Writing Arts majors should declare at least one concentration with their advisor.
Creative Writing
This 12-credit concentration allows students to develop a craft-based understanding of a variety of genres of creative writing, including poetry, fiction, and writing stories for children and young adults.
Publishing & Writing for the Public
This 12-credit concentration emphasizes the importance of understanding how emerging technologies challenge traditional notions of what it means to write and to be a writer. Toward that end, students in this concentration will work in and with the affordances and limits of various technologies, including social medias, visual composing tools, electronic writing spaces, and web sites. Students concentrating in New Media Writing and Publishing will understand the implications of technology on writing and be able to take full advantage of these implications to excel professionally.
Technical & Professional Writing
This 12-credit concentration prepares students to write within a variety of professional situations, including workplace writing, research and problem solving.
